our story

Weatherly: Able to sail close to the wind without drifting much to leeward.

Weatherly is the name of our small farm in Talbot County Maryland. The origin of the home dates to the original land grant by Lord Baltimore to Edward Lloyd in the 1600’s.

Something noticeable happened on a late morning while hunting from our pit blind.

It was quiet, nothing was flying when we noticed a weather front approaching.

We could see and feel it coming. The wind picked up and snow began to fall. The geese responded, and a story was written.

I was reminded of how quickly the weather could change, how this change affected our day, and how powerless we are over the winds and the weather — yet how uniquely they affect us.

Residing around us, and in all of us, is power
 greater than us.

Harnessing the Good Power in us while being
aware of the power around us will keep us
centered on the things that matter most—
without being blown too far to leeward.

Weatherly is the proper name for our farm, and a proper name for Weatherly Outdoors.

It is our hope that all who enjoy Weatherly and the experiences of Weatherly Outdoors will leave with a desire to…“sail more closely to the wind without drifting much to leeward.”

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.
